Ecotarium Turtle Travels

Saturday, June 1310:00—11:00 AMGreenwood Meeting RoomLevi Heywood Memorial Library55 West Lynde Street, Gardner, MA, 01440

For kids in grades K-5.

How do turtles thrive in such a wide range of habitats—from ponds and wetlands to forests and oceans—and how do their behaviors shift when humans begin sharing their environment?

In this hands-on, interactive program, students will meet a live turtle, examine real turtle biofacts, and explore the fascinating adaptations and life cycles that help turtles survive in the wild. Through close observation and guided discovery, they’ll gain a deeper understanding of how turtles move, eat, protect themselves, and adapt to changing conditions.

For older students (grades 3+), the experience extends into a real-world conservation challenge. Working collaboratively, students will design and develop a parcel of land while carefully balancing human use with the needs of local turtle populations—thinking like conservationists as they consider habitat protection, sustainability, and coexistence.
